Here’s the mega list of small shops I love! From art, to kids toys and more there’s sure to be something for yourself or who you’re shopping for. Everyone on this list I have either bought from and love, or want to purchase from in the future!
BRAVE NEW SOLES
MASKS AND SHOES
Once upon a time the twins were tiny babies and I stumbled upon Brave New Soles. I ended up with a pair of her shoes for each of the twins and I’m forever sad they outgrew them so fast because they were amazing!
Note: currently shoes are on pause, but Adrianne is making masks! Follow on Instagram for updates on shoe availability.

EMPIRE MAKE SPACE

Empire Make Space wears a few hats: it’s currently a place to buy masks, it’s about to be a community sewing hub and it’ll become more as time goes on!
Current products are adult and kids masks made with deadstock and scrap fabrics – aka fabrics that are saved from landfill. We own a whole collection of her masks and I adore them!
GRANNY AND MUMMY
Granny and Mummy is a kids clothing shop ran by a mother/daughter duo. We own grow with me pants for the twins and they’ve held up amazing through all the messy play, hanging out and park adventures. Products include:
- and more!

HERITAGE BABY DESIGNS
One of the main reasons I survived the NICU, breastfeeding twins in public and cuddling two babies at once was my Joeyband and Sleepbelt. They’re bands that aid in immediate skin to skin after birth, safe holding while you sit so you can be hands free while babe sleep, can provide breastfeeding support and more.
LITTLE BONES OTTAWA
Little Bones Ottawa is the perfect place to grab your unique home decor. Each piece is crafted by hand with love and one of a kind! Perfect to add a little terrarium to your home with a side of strange (the good kind of strange).
Little Bones Ottawa pieces feature a mixture of bugs, bones, mini furniture and more!
LITTLE ZEN ONE
LOVELY CHAOS WOODEN TOYS

We’ve had grow with me style pants from Katy for the twins for over a year now and they still look and feel good as new. They’ve continued to grow with the twins and will definitely stay for another year! The fabric patterns will make all your nerdy dreams come true. Products include:
- Grow with me pants
- An underwear subscription
- Adult and child sizes
KIDS TOYS AND CLOTHING
Jana’s shop makes me drool on a regular basis. Between the fun and bright clothing, the wooden toys and the puppets I’m set for fun for the kids! Their products include:
- Wooden toys
- Kids clothing
- Kids outerwear
- Reusable items
You can use BEINGTHISMAMA for a discount at Modern Rascals!

STEPHANIE CHINN ART
I first fell in love with Steph’s work when she posted on a business feature thread in a Facebook group. With the option of buying one of her pieces or getting a custom piece done you’re sure to find something that works for you! Products include:
- Illustrated prints
- Digital custom illustrations
Leah creates beautiful cropped shirts and sweaters out of secondhand clothing. Each piece comes with a matching scrunchie made from the same shirt!
Leah’s shirts are sold via her Instagram page.
TERI CO. CANADA
THE GOOD KID CLOTHING CO
TINY TOY CO
Tiny Toy Co is the perfect example of guilt-free toy shopping if you’re worried about the waste. Everything they sell is recycled – think old Happy Meal toys, bits and pieces from board games, unloved wooden loose parts, etc. Products include:
- Loose parts
- and much more!
Have I inspired a purchase you’ve made? Have you started thrifting or changing the way you shop because of something I’ve posted? Tag me on Instagram so I can see! I love seeing the impacts of what I put out there.
