HALLOWEEN SENSORY BOTTLES

Ready to add some spooky feels to your playroom? These Halloween sensory bottles are perfect for that!

Sensory bottles are a simple but effective toy to pull together. They can be used for a variety of ages, they’re mess-free and they’re portable too! While sensory bottles have a history of being used in calm down corners, for anxious children and those who need calming down techniques, they’re also a wonderful exploration addition to any playroom. Since they’re mess-free and reusable there’s a very long list of what you can put inside!

Here’s a list of some Halloween sensory bottles you can put together in minutes.

For my sensory bottles I typically use the sensory bottle by Artminds that Michaels sells. They’re cheap, strong and the opening is wide enough to fit many materials! Mine are scratched up from being used to often (and frequently on hardwood flooring) so that’s why they look a little funny in the photos.

However, you can very easily make sensory bottles out of your recycling: pop bottles, VOSS water bottles and plastic spice containers are just a few examples.

As far as what I put inside, I try and keep it as low waste as possible. Stores like Dollarama will always have fun items to throw inside but I try to find items at the thrift store or our local Buy Nothing group first. I avoid adding glitter to reduce the amount of micro plastics heading into our water streams. I try to use items that can be washed, stored and then reused after too!

There you have it! Six super simple Halloween sensory bottles. If you’re worried about the bottles being opened you can tape them shut. I usually use either black duct tape or electrical tape so it’s strong and blends in, but something like a packing tape would work too.
